I’ve decided to try out the 8post engine. It has two key benefits over the Tron engine, at the (admittedly quite significant) cost of coming into play tapped: 1) While you need to find a Cloudpost before a Vesuva, you don’t need to find three different specific lands; 2) three deck or four deck slots can now be allocated to business spells instead of mana sources. This list has only twenty-eight mana sources where my Tron lists had thirty-one. It’s been working out well.
Those three slots have been filled up by Spell Snare, which doesn’t really need much explanation– it counters Goyf, Confidant, Teeg, Counterspell, Counterbalanced, and so forth. It goes a long way helping the deck reach the mid-late game where it typically dominates.
Descendant of Kiyomaro is now my anti-aggro card of choice. A mana base with fetchlands and basic Plains instead of Skycloud Expanses also lets me run Condemn, quite a welcome inclusion that would probably be maindeck if Spell Snare wasn’t there. I’m thinking of turning those the Kami in the sideboard into Dismantling Blow; while much less potent against Ideal, it’s a potential devastating blow in the midgame against a number of decks.
The deck has serious issues with Goblins and Balancing Act decks aren’t really much fun, but otherwise the deck has been testing pretty well.

If you’re running Spell Snares, you should probably turn those Signets into UW Talismans. They would be good with the Condemns out of the board as well.
